The craft

Felted with patience and care

Felted Wool Fairies makes Waldorf-inspired woodland companions: simple forms, natural materials, and quiet beauty. Each fairy is needle-felted by hand from Merino wool — fibers locked together until a form, wings, and dress emerge.

We work with artisan partners who share this craft tradition. Every companion is handmade, one of a kind, and packed with her parchment story. Slight differences in size and texture are part of the work — not defects.

Materials and size

  • Body & dress - Merino wool, needle-felted by hand
  • Head & hands - Smooth untreated wooden beads
  • Wings - Soft wispy Merino wool layers
  • Typical height - About 20 cm (≈ 8 in)
  • Weight - Roughly 40-70 g
  • Care - Display keepsake; keep dry; gentle brush only; not a toy for under-3s

Merino comes from Merino sheep and is known for unusually fine, soft fibers. Compared with ordinary sheep's wool it feels silkier and less "scratchy," holds delicate detail when needle-felted, and gives each fairy her cloud-like fluff and gentle warmth.
